Optical Content Protection (OCP):
- Protects DVD Video content by corrupting the media stream of illegally ripped content which has been burnt to recordable or pressed media.
- Depending on the player, illegal content may not play at all, or be subject to frequent stops, freezes and pixellations.
- Uses a new low level method to provide the protection which cannot currently be circumvented.
- Other protection products are routinely circumvented meaning they don't provide protection as much as delay the illegal copying.
- Is 100% conformant with the DVD-Video standard, and 100% compatible with all DVD Video players, on PCs and on consumer console players.
- Resilience and error handling is not compromised with OCP.
- There is zero overhead when playing original OCP protected content.
- Current OCP version is designed to permit fair use for consumers, as it only targets and compromises attempted 1:1 replication.
- It allows for the transcoding of content on portable media players, such as the Apple iPod, Sony PSP and Microsoft Zune.
- Is compatible with current post production processes and has zero incremental overhead.
- No additional verification or alteration to existing QA processes are required.
- Can be implemented anywhere and by anyone in the post production value chain from MPEG encoding to pre-mastering.
- Replicators do not need to be authorized.
- Content owners can manufacture with any replicator.
- Content owner can select the strength and positioning of the protection.
- Can be applied selectively per title.
